#Lighttheworld – It’s What I Always Wanted

Looking at the packages under the Christmas tree brings great anticipation of seeing family and friends’ faces when they unwrap their gifts.
One year, I sewed three-foot-tall Raggedy Ann dolls for my three young granddaughters. As I wrapped them, I hoped each girl would be delighted when they opened their boxes.
My oldest granddaughter oohed and ahhed and thanked me. My youngest granddaughter didn’t know what to think since her doll was taller than her. But my middle special-needs granddaughter tore the paper, opened the box, and exclaimed, “Oh, my gosh! It’s what I always wanted!”
I laughed as I held back tears.
If Santa asked me today what I wanted, I would tell him more family unity, joy in each other’s accomplishments, strength in adversity, and contentment with what I have. I want less contention, neglect, sadness, confusion, misunderstanding, and loneliness. I want to look back at the end of my day and exclaim, “Oh, my gosh! It’s what I always wanted!”
